1ST PRIZE IN THE 2014 (RE)CONNAISSANCE COMPETITION
"Beware, the SINE QUA NON ART company is going to be a force to be reckoned with. With Des Ailleurs sans lieu, one-on-one or in unison, a flight of sensation to experience."
"The embodiment of sharp thinking about intimacy and the performance space, that place shared by performers and audience, the piece excels in opening up an elsewhere, a non-narrative and solidly human fiction."
"A radical experience of otherness and intimacy, a melody of air.
"Like a sentence with four identical propositions, panting and hammered by a heavy, clipped breath - a man's sigh that borrows from the animal's instinctive rattle."
Sine Qua Non Art explores the emblematic figure of the trio from a central choreographic and dramaturgical point of view: the breath and its rhythmic, vibratory capacities. The vocal chords of the three dancers echo the strings of a cello invited to take part in this vibratory oratorio: together they establish their own codes, entering into dialogue. A human landscape emerges, vivid, sharp, tender, breathing out its revolt, its pleasure, its relationship with others. The use of breath is pushed to its extremes. When this evocation of breathing humanity suddenly reminds us of our own breathing and how we use it: we live as we breathe.
''the embodiment of sharp thinking about intimacy and performance space, the piece excels in opening up an elsewhere, a non-narrative fiction that is solidly human''.
